Diya painting

Since the festive season is upon us, mommy decided that it was a good time to get our paint sets out and paint some diyas so that we could have them ready for Diwali.

The session started out great..I mixed the paints and started painting the diyas..then mommy stepped away to go answer the phone that was ringing off the hook..by the time she returned, I had decided that painting only diyas isnt that much fun..so I proceeded to paint my legs, my hands, my face and the floor!

Counting Colours in a Rainbow

..thats a song that mommy and paapu learnt at school.
Mommy was singing that song for me and offered a tiny bit of trivia..paapu was the color orange when she performed that song at school. Of course in big people speak this just means that she wore an orange colored dress and stood amongst other little girls wearing clothes of the colors of the rainbow.

But to me...'paapu was the color orang'e in the rainbow meant that she was part of the real rainbow.

T: So was she bent and curved like the rainbow?
Mommy: No she wasnt..she was a little girl wearing an orange frock.

T: Paapu was a little girl??????
Mommy: She was a little girl just like you!
T: Really???

5 minutes of silence
T: Did paapu have eyes when she was a rainbow?
M: Yes she did..why?
T: Coz rainbows dont have eyes

Mommy needs to dig out that old picture and show me..till then Ill just assume that paapu was curved and bent like the rainbow!

So how are we doing with the 3 Rs at school?

Reading: Im doing amazingly well with this. I can read phonetic words, I can read some sight words and I amaze mommy when I sit with her when she is reading the newspaper and I read out random words to her.

wRiting : Doing well with this also..I can actually spell and write words now. Just yesterday mommys jaw dropped because I wrote "Umbrela". Of course I had missed out an L..but mommy was amazed that I could actually put together the rest of it. Now I write words like Cat, Dog, Bug, Mug..etc all the time..Im still struggling with some letters though..the difficult ones like S and others that need more than straight lines.

aRithmetic: I have figured out how the tens and hundreds and thousands work. I can figure out odd and even numbers..I am now getting ready to do some basic addition

Thank you Little Feat Montessori.
